Open Letter on the AI Code: Safeguarding AI Innovation in Europe
Danish Entrepreneurs have published an open letter calling on EU policymakers to ensure that the upcoming General-Purpose AI Code of Practice (GPAI Code) does not overstep the AI Act and impose additional burdens on startups.
AI-driven innovation is at risk in Europe. While we support responsible AI governance, unnecessary regulatory complexity will hinder competitiveness, deter investment, and drive AI talent out of Europe. The EU must avoid repeating past mistakes in digital policy and instead create an enabling environment where startups can thrive.
Key concerns from our open letter:
✅ GPAI Code must stay within the AI Act’s scope – no additional obligations.
✅ Avoid excessive compliance burdens that disproportionately harm startups.
✅ Adopt a risk-based approach instead of exemptions based on company size.
✅ Support open-source AI models and ensure fair treatment of different AI release strategies.
We urge the to ensure that AI-regulators make sure that future regulation enables, rather than restricts, European AI innovation. Time is running out, and Europe cannot afford to fall further behind.
